When you evaluate any coatings or sealers, the key to price is the percentage of solids in the formulation you are buying. Almost every sealer is "cut" with either a solvent or water. Solvent and/or water is a cheap ingredient when compared to the cost of the solids materials that actually remains behind on your pavers after the "cutting agent" evaporates. As a buyer, you should be keenly honed in and focused on the % solids in the coatings you purchase.
One of the "games" chemical suppliers will play is to reduce the solids content in the product they sell you. They will either not list the % solids in their literature, or they will quietly "water down" your product by reducing the percentage after they start selling to you. This obviously reduces their costs and increases their profit margin at your expense.
We know firsthand this game because we've had suppliers play this game on us. We have been standing on floors we have coated and wondered why the coating didn't seem quite as thick or viscous and why the material wasn't leaving as thick a top coat after the cutting agent evaporated away. This results in the product not covering as much square footage and a thinner dry film thickness, producing a shorter wearing floor coating. We don't like being cheated. This is a big reason why we got into the chemical business ourselves. We know firsthand what this means to you, as an applicator, and we are committed to never playing this game with you.
